Welcome to the NVIDIA Media and Entertainment Industry Newsletter.

July means it’s once again time for SIGGRAPH, which many consider to be the world’s most important and influential gathering of computer graphics professionals—including developers, artists, students, and everyone involved in the graphics ecosystem. As usual, NVIDIA will be there in full force, not just exhibiting new products and technologies, but also giving free educational talks from our leading scientists, engineers, and product leaders.

A highlight for many attendees is the theater in the NVIDIA booth, sponsored by HP again this year, where our leading customers present their work and give insight into the use of NVIDIA GPUs within their creative process. You’ll find links below to see the full agenda which, at press time, includes very special sessions from Double Negative, Pixar, Weta Digital, Zoic Studios, and others who will be talking about new creative tools for their artists. The theater agenda also boasts a host of leading software companies who will be discussing breakthrough new capabilities for digital content creation within their applications.

We will also be showing—for the first time—new technologies for the consumer market and automotive infotainment systems, in addition to the industry’s most powerful workstations from Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Stop by our booth if you’re at the show and say hello to the Media & Entertainment team. We’ll be well represented and we love to talk shop with our customers.

Webinar: GPUs in the Film Visual Effects Pipeline

NVIDIA GPUs have been used to accelerate visual effects in movies for over a decade, maturing from pure graphics-acceleration hardware to generalized supercomputing co-processors. At the same time, we’ve seen the complexity of rendering and the fidelity of simulations in movie effects increase exponentially.

This talk examines the current state-of-the-art of GPU-accelerated HPC at leading VFX studios and offers a glimpse into the future of how next-generation GPUs may be used to change the way we make movies.

Register for the upcoming webinar, presented by Wil Braithwaite, Applied Engineer from NVIDIA, on Thursday, August 8, 2013 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM PDT. Register now
