FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NAB – LAS VEGAS – APRIL 19, 2004—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing, today launched the NVIDIA Quadro® FX 4000 SDI, a workstation-based graphics solution enabling breakthrough weather, news, sports, and virtual-set broadcast as well as video and film post production.
This new solution based on the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 architecture introduced today, integrates industry-leading graphics and 10-bit uncompressed video output capability to cut costs, eliminate bandwidth bottlenecks, and deliver unprecedented quality. The result is stunning graphical content, with high-quality HD or SD video output.
“The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 accelerates advanced media communication such as HDTV and interactive communication, bringing innovation to live broadcast and film post production markets,” said Itsuto Hamazaki, general manager of the client and server marketing promotion division at NEC. “By delivering the high resolution, quality, and performance required for HDTV content development and display, NVIDIA is a driver in the digitalization of broadcast and film markets. We look forward to partnering with NVIDIA to market this exciting new product.”
The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI graphics-to-video-out solution performs real-time rendering, high-precision video color conversion, and gamma correction. A dedicated video backend unit, complete with analog and digital house sync capability, ensures high-quality SDI video signal formatting and transmission. This enables broadcast and non-linear editing systems to output true, uncompressed 10-bit SDI video in SMPTE standard formats and directly connects to broadcast monitors for previewing, switchers for on-air broadcasting, and SDI projectors for digital dailies.
“Discreet leverages advanced NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics capabilities to deliver the highest performance creative solutions,” said Marc Petit, vice president of development at Discreet. “The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI offers great synergy with how our products are designed, providing not only high-quality graphics but also a high-bandwidth path to video—capabilities that are highly valuable to post-production professionals.”
The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI features two configurable 8-bit or 10-bit channels of fill or key and allows users to tailor the color conversion to specific requirements. Running on both Windows and Linux operating systems, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI provides operating modes ranging from transparent one, working on top of existing applications, to programmable high-precision modes offering up to 10-bit 4:4:4:4, enabling integration within broadcast or video editing applications through an NVIDIA application programming interface.
