New Desktop PC Features New RIVA TNT-Based Motherboard
SANTA CLARA, CA – APRIL 15, 1999 – NVIDIATM Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) today announced that the award-winning RIVA TNTTM 3D graphics processor will be featured in Medion's new desktop PCs. Directly integrated on the 440BX motherboard, NVIDIA's RIVA TNT delivers state-of-the-art 3D performance, in addition to 2D and video acceleration to the mainstream PC market. The RIVA TNT is the first high-performance TwiN Texel 128-bit 3D processor to be integrated into a mainstream motherboard offering.
"Incorporating the TNT-based BX Mmotherboard in their new desktop PCs allows Medion to deliver a high-end visual experience to a broad range of users," said Jeff Fisher, vice president of worldwide sales at NVIDIA. "NVIDIA's award winning RIVA TNT 3D processor is not only the perfect choice for the end-user who wants the ultimate visual experience in 2D and 3D, but it also gives Medion a winning edge in a highly-competitive market."
The Medion line of personal computers is sold directly from Medion, and is designed to meet user demands for the most advanced package of new technologies and features without the premium price. Each Medion PC is built to order and comes with a number of advanced features, including the integrated RIVA TNT graphics processor.
The powerful award-winning RIVA TNT with its TwiN Texel processing engine, integrates a dual-pixel 32-bit color pipeline with 24-bit Z-buffer, 8-bit stencil buffer and per-pixel precision. RIVA TNT can apply two textures to a single triangle while processing two pixels per clock cycle to yield twice the pixel fill rate. The 250MHz RAMDAC is capable of driving the most extreme resolutions, color depths and ergonomic refresh rates up to 2048 x 1536 x 16bpp at 60Hz.
The RIVA family of 3D/2D processors, the RIVA TNT2TM, RIVA TNTTM, RIVA 128ZXTM and the RIVA 128TM is the first family of high performance processors for the performance mainstream PC market. The RIVA processors utilize a 128-bit pipeline to support the computational throughput required for current and future graphically intense applications. The NVIDIA VantaTM 3D/2D processor is the first in a family of 3D processors designed for the enterprise PC market. Based on the award winning RIVA TNT2 architecture, the NVIDIA Vanta processor is designed for Windows 2000 and the burgeoning market for enterprise visualization applications. By leveraging its graphics technology and massive gate counts, all NVIDIA processors are able to deliver stunningly realistic, high frame rate 3D, along with benchmark winning 2D, VGA and video acceleration in single chip solutions. NVIDIA processors are optimized for both Direct3DTM and OpenGLTM.
