NVIDIA and LeadTek Research Inc. Announce Strategic Alliance

 
 

RIVA TNT2 and Vanta to Highlight Suite of Graphics Accelerators Designed and Distributed Worldwide by Leadtek 
    
COMPUTEX, TAIPEI, TAIWAN – JUNE 1, 1999 – NVIDIA™ Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Leadtek Research Inc. announced today a strategic alliance aimed at providing enhanced graphics capabilities for PC users worldwide. This alliance gives Leadtek the opportunity to design and distribute high-performance graphics accelerators based on NVIDIA's industry leading portfolio of 3D graphics processors, including the RIVA TNT2™, the worlds fastest 3D processor (Mercury Research). The products resulting from this alliance range from high-end solutions for gamers looking for the highest performing products to fuel their gaming experience to entry-level offerings for budget conscious users whose buying decision is often based upon cost.

Hardware, Software Optimized for Enhanced Graphics Capabilities
Through this alliance, Leadtek will launch a series of products worldwide based on NVIDIA's portfolio of 3D processors. The WinFast 3D S320II Ultra and WinFast 3D 320II are based upon NVIDIA's high-performance TNT2 3D processor and offers speeds of up to 185 MHz, offering users an unrivaled high-end graphics experience that meets the requirements of the mainstream PC graphics market and Microsoft's PC99 and DX6 initiatives. The new WinFast 320V is a second generation128-bit accelerator based on NVIDIA's VANTA processor and is targeted for end-users looking for a stunning visual experience while maintaining budgetary discretion. Leadtek is also launching the new WinFast 3D S325 based on a 64-bit version of the RIVA TNT2.

In addition to the broad hardware implementations, Leadtek has also optimized software drivers of the complete portfolio of new graphics accelerators to provide full support for an OpenGL® ICD (Installable Client Driver) for Windows® 95/98/NT. Delivering the industry's fastest Direct3D acceleration, leadership in VGA, DirectDraw and video performance, the new Leadtek accelerators power a growing range of 3D applications, including the hottest 3D games and full screen DVD playback, demanding CAD/CAM/3D authoring, as well as many different types of business applications.
   
NVIDIA Family Processors
The RIVA family of 3D/2D graphics processors, the RIVA TNT2™, RIVA TNT™, RIVA 128ZXTM and the RIVA 128™ is the first family of high performance graphics processors for the performance mainstream PC market. The RIVA processors utilize a 128-bit pipeline to support the computational throughput required for current and future graphically intensive applications. The NVIDIA Vanta™ 3D/2D processor is the first in a family of 3D processors designed for the enterprise PC market.
