Product and Technology Leadership Drives Highest Ranking for Second Consecutive Year
For Immediate Release
SANTA CLARA, CA – OCTOBER 11, 1999 – NVIDIA™ Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) announced today they have earned the highest ranking among PC graphics processor companies in PC Magazine's "The PC Magazine 100 Most Influential Companies" cover story in Issue 18, dated October 19, 1999. In addition to ranking the highest of all graphics processor companies, NVIDIA ranked eighth of all semiconductor companies.
In this special report, PC Magazine selected the 100 most influential companies it believes are shaping the personal computer industry. Three dozen senior editorial staffers and contributing editors at PC Magazine chose the companies based on quantitative criteria including annual revenues, key product lines, market share and industry leadership.
PC Magazine hardware technical director Nick Stam wrote, "Remaining one of the hottest growth areas, 3-D graphics chips will see a doubling of performance about every six months. We expect all major players to move geometry processing on-board within the next six months; 64MB or even 128MB local frame buffer memory won't be uncommon by mid-2000." NVIDIA is the first graphics processor company to deliver single-chip geometry processing with the GeForce 256 GPU and the only one to deliver a product family that provides the best quality and performance for the sub-$1000 PC to the enthusiast PC.
"Being recognized by PC Magazine underscores our focus and commitment to be the most important graphics company in the world," said Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. "Graphics is the enabling technology that's changing everything from how we do business on the internet to playing games on the PC. We are very proud of our achievement."
