Diamond's Viper V330 with RIVA 128 processor chosen for NEC's MateServer NX Servers

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - February 10, 1998 - NVIDIA™ Corporation announced today that NEC Corporation has chosen the AGP-based Diamond Multimedia Viper V330 accelerator, featuring the award-winning RIVA 128™ 3D processor, for use in its MateServer NX servers. This partnership expands NVIDIA's OEM business into the Japanese market, which is where the servers will be sold.

The RIVA 128
The RIVA 128 3D processor is the first in a family of highly integrated graphics products that is targeted at the performance segment of the volume PC graphics market. By leveraging NVIDIA's graphics technology and the massive gate counts available with SGS-THOMSON's advanced 0.35 micron 5LM technology, RIVA 128 is able to deliver high resolution, high frame rate 3D, along with leadership 2D, VGA and video acceleration in a single chip.
Diamond Multimedia's Viper V330
Diamond Multimedia's Viper V330 media accelerator is a "true" 128-bit solution for accelerating 2D/3D graphics and MPEG-1 digital video playback. With 4MB of SGRAM, Diamond's Viper is capable of displaying resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 and color depths up to 32-bit true-color. A 230MHz RAMDAC provides flicker-free refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The new Viper features optimized drivers for running in Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 environments with support planned for Windows 98. This new accelerator is a high-quality 3D performer with a rich 3D feature set optimized for software titles developed using the Direct3D application programming interface (API). The Viper is also TV tuner and DVD (PCI) upgradeable.
