SANTA CLARA, CA — MARCH 6, 2002 — Adding to an already impressive list of awards, NVIDIA® Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) announced today that its GeForce3(TM) Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) has been crowned “Best Hardware” of 2001 by Computer Games Magazine. Unveiled in the magazine’s March 2002 issue, the winners of the 11th Annual Computer Games awards represent the best products in PC gaming as selected by the magazine’s editorial staff.
“The GeForce3 GPU includes new Pixel and Vertex Shaders that allow game developers to take advantage of numerous real-time special effects and custom looks resulting in amazingly rich graphic environments," said Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing for NVIDIA. “We’re pleased that the editors of Computer Games magazine recognized the GeForce3 GPU as the clear technology leader.”
The NVIDIA GeForce3 family of GPUs integrates the NVIDIA nfiniteFX(TM) engine to bring rich environments and characters to life. The nfiniteFX engine features NVIDIA’s Shader Technology, a collection of patented 3D technologies enabling the creation of interactive, cinematic-quality realism through the use of highly programmable processing elements. As with all of the GeForce family products, GeForce3 drives extreme resolutions and color depths of up to 2048x1536x32.
