FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SANTA CLARA, CA — MAY 10, 2002 — NVIDIA® Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) announced today that NVIDIA Personal Cinema™, a product that marries the power of a PC with the consumer convenience of a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) by offering intelligent TV surfing and recording combined with industry-leading 3D graphics in one complete package, was named “Best PVR PC card” by the editors of Smart TV & Sound Magazine. Unveiled in the magazine’s Summer/Fall 2002 issue, the review heralds NVIDIA Personal Cinema for its ease-of-use and robust feature set that includes the ability to pause and record live TV; to schedule future TV shows for recording; to playback DVDs; and to capture and edit video—all from a desktop PC.
“NVIDIA Personal Cinema has been gaining momentum as an ideal solution for consumers looking to turn their PCs into a home entertainment hub,” said Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. “We’re excited that the editors of Smart TV & Sound magazine have selected NVIDIA Personal Cinema as the best Personal Video Recorder (PVR) PC product of the year as it’s a true credit to the talents and expertise of our product design team.”
The editors of Smart & Sound TV said about NVIDIA Personal Cinema: “The NVIDIA Personal Cinema functions well as a DVD player, a TiVo-like video recorder, a solid home-video editor, and, with an exceptional 3D video engine, a fabulous gaming card.”
With its impeccably integrated hardware and software suite, NVIDIA Personal Cinema allows users to watch, record, and control live TV, enjoy superior DVD playback, and use their PCs to create personal home movies. Personal Cinema’s Intelligent TV feature functions like a traditional set-top box by allowing users to “time-shift” live TV (pause, instant replay, forward and rewind) or automatically program the PC to record future shows or movies. NVIDIA Personal Cinema is also the first product of its kind to implement a multi-function remote control—ensuring users of a simplified and intuitive interactive PC/video experience—and includes an exceptional NVIDIA GeForce-based Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in every package.
NVIDIA Personal Cinema is now available at specialty retail outlets nationwide from VisionTek and Compro Technology. Pricing and availability information can be found at <http://www.nvidia.com/wheretobuy>.
