FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SANTA CLARA, CA—SEPTEMBER 12, 2002—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced that its NVIDIA Quadro®4 family of graphics solutions was recognized by two industry-leading publications—PC Magazine and Maximum PC—for its unprecedented 3D performance and innovative feature set for the workstation market.
In the September 2002 issue of Maximum PC, the NVIDIA Quadro4 900 XGL received the “Kick Ass Product” Editors' Choice award by registering an overall ranking of nine out of 10, besting other competitive solutions. Additionally, in the September 17th, 2002 issue of PC Magazine “Towers of Power” workstation review, NVIDIA Quadro4 900 XGL and NVIDIA Quadro4 700 XGL graphics boards powered Dell Precision Workstations to the winners circle for Editors’ Choice awards in the high-end and midrange categories, respectively. All of the systems submitted for review by PC Magazine featured NVIDIA® graphics processors.
“These reviews—from two highly respected publications—further validate NVIDIA’s leadership position in the workstation market,” said Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. “For the serious design professional, NVIDIA Quadro graphics solutions offer the best choice for performance, value and productivity enhancing features, including our nView™ multi-display technology.”
“During benchmarking, the Quadro4 smoked all other cards in the roundup…,” writes Maximum PC Contributing Writer and Reviewer Jim Norris in his September ‘Workhorses’ review. “You get increased triangle acceleration, the activation of features that accelerate lines and windows, and access to OpenGL optimized Quadro drivers. Amazing speed, solid OpenGL drivers, full OS support, great gaming. Write the check and you can do it all.”
“Dell outshone its competition,” said Jenn DeFeo, associate editor at PC Magazine and contributor to the September 17 ‘Towers of Power’ article. “The Precision Workstation 340 was the most complete midrange system, with great performance thanks to its top of the line components, such as the Dell Quadro4 700 XGL graphics card.”
The Maximum PC review also praised nView, NVIDIA’s multi-display technology, for providing features such as automatic window sizing, window transparency, and others that make running a second display more useful. All NVIDIA Quadro4 products support arrangements of analog monitors and digital flat panel displays that may be combined to drastically increase a user’s working desktop. nView's smart and flexible interface has built-in usability features to minimize set-up and maximize productivity, including hot-key binding, smart Windows® management enhancements, and the ability to name and save up to 32 different desktop configurations.
