Derek Juba
Derek Juba is a fourth year PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park. He has an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and a BS in Computer Science with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. His main area of interest is Scientific Visualization- other interests include Computer Graphics and Computer
Gaming. His current research involves data-parallel knowledge discovery algorithms for scientific data that can be run on the GPU. Previous projects have involved rendering volume data represented by Gaussian radial basis functions, parallel, hardware accelerated algorithms to measure the surface area of proteins, and visualization of plasma turbulence data.
