FY19 KEY METRICS AND RESULTS

Evaluating Our Efforts

The NVIDIA Foundation annually evaluates and reports key metrics to measure the results of our programs. The accompanying table shows our progress over the past three years.

In FY19, the NVIDIA Foundation conducted a full evaluation of our organization and programs, which resulted in taking steps to ensure that we’re operating efficiently and having maximum impact. This effort involved engaging a third-party firm to help us solicit feedback from executives and employees, conduct a benchmarking process, and complete a landscape analysis.

The work contributed to several key changes in our results for FY19 compared to FY18:

  • After nearly a decade, we decided to end our Compute the Cure initiative and refocus these resources to support our employee engagement initiatives, which has become the singular focus of the foundation beginning in FY20. The phased sunsetting process started with eliminating our cancer research investments in FY19. This was a major contributor to the decline in our total donations for the year.
  • As we began shifting our focus to employee engagement, we saw an 8 percent increase in the number of offices holding charitable giving events and a nearly 40 percent increase in the number of volunteer hours. This resulted from working closely with several new NVIDIA offices around the world to help them ramp up their volunteer and fundraising activities and increasing the overall number of foundation-organized volunteer events by 20 percent.
  • The investment we made to complete the program evaluation work contributed to an increase in our administrative overhead rate. We expect this rate to go down in FY20.
