E3 2019: Biggest Blockbusters, Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs: Legion, Add Ray Tracing. And There Are More On The Way, Including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is where developers and publishers announce the biggest games, and share major updates on existing and upcoming titles. Several of E3 2019’s biggest blockbusters are being enhanced with ray tracing, powered by NVIDIA, and we’ve got all the details below.

Cyberpunk 2077 Adds Real-Time Ray Tracing

Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps the most anticipated game of current times, with over 100 E3 2018 awards for its unveiling, and unprecedented interest for every screenshot and update since. Coming to you from the developers of the critically-acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a future metropolis called Night City, starring “V”, a hired gun on the rise in a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers.

For Cyberpunk 2077, we’ve partnered with CD PROJEKT RED as an official technology partner to bring real-time ray tracing to the game.

“Ray tracing allows us to realistically portray how light behaves in a crowded urban environment,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “Thanks to this technology, we can add another layer of depth and verticality to the already impressive megacity the game takes place in.”

Having wowed everyone last year with their first E3 demo, CD PROJEKT RED have returned to the show with a new game demo featuring real-time ray-tracing, that raises the bar for open world graphical fidelity.

The demo is not yet available to view online, but below you can view the world’s first ray-traced PC screenshots, exemplifying the incredible level of detail you’ll find in Cyberpunk 2077 coming April 16, 2020.

Now, we’re partnering once again, to bring DXR real-time ray tracing to the newly-announced Watch Dogs®: Legion, which is set in a photorealistic near-future London.

Control: Remedy Debuts New Ray-Traced Trailer At E3

Remedy Entertainment crafted Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break. At this year’s E3, they’re demonstrating ControlTM, a third-person action-adventure set in the shape-shifting building of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secret government agency that keeps the supernatural out of the public eye. Except, the supernatural has broken free within the FBC itself, and it’s up to you to regain control of the bureau.

Control is playable behind closed doors at the show, with real-time ray tracing enabled, adding accurate, realistic, immersive translucent reflections, and other ray-traced effects, which greatly increase fidelity. For folks at home, we’ve collaborated with Remedy on a brand-new ray-traced trailer, which you can view below:

Control launches August 27th -  stay tuned to GeForce.com for more details on the game and its tech.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Playable At E3, Will Be Ray Traced On PC

Bethesda Softworks held their E3 showcase a few days ago, revealing plenty of info about and gameplay from Wolfenstein: Youngblood, their new FPS that’s playable solo or in co-op.

For the PC release, Bethesda and developer MachineGames have chosen NVIDIA GeForce as the PC platform of choice for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, enabling us to add cutting-edge ray-traced effects and performance-accelerating NVIDIA Adaptive Shading.

And to celebrate this partnership, we are currently bundling a copy of the game with select GeForce RTX graphics cards, desktops and laptops.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2: First Gameplay Shown At E3

In March, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was announced, and simultaneously we revealed that the PC release would be enhanced with real-time ray tracing and other NVIDIA tech.

At E3, Paradox Interactive and Hardsuit Labs have unveiled the first gameplay footage from the sequel, giving fans of the original 2004 game an early peek at the immersive, detailed world that has been crafted for the long-awaited sequel.

New G-SYNC Monitors Powering E3

There’s no point crafting a great game if it’s hard to see under the bright lights of the E3 show floor, so attendees only want the best of the best when it comes to monitor tech. This year, that means plenty of high-quality G-SYNC gaming monitors, and of course, G-SYNC ULTIMATE gaming monitors with 1000 nits HDR, for the definitive viewing experience.

Amongst the thousands of displays used throughout the trade halls, press events, and off-site events, there are 4 new G-SYNC gaming monitors in use:

LG UltraGear 38GL950G and 27GL850: LG’s 3840x1600 (21:9, 38-inch) and 2560x1440 (16:9, 27-inch) gaming monitors are the world’s first to use Nano IPS technology, enabling traditionally slower IPS panels to run at lightning fast 1ms response times, and with even-better color reproduction (DCI-P3 98 percent).

The 38-inch model is the largest desktop G-SYNC gaming monitor ever made, runs at 144Hz, can be overclocked to 175Hz, has a 2300R curvature, supports VESA DisplayHDR 400, and is certified by NVIDIA through over 300 tests for performance and image quality to provide a great gaming experience, with smooth motion without tearing or stuttering. Furthermore, it has a virtually-borderless design and features upgraded Sphere Lighting 2.0 – an array of RGB lights located at the rear of the monitor that heighten the ambience of gaming PC setup or gaming station by changing color in accordance with the on-screen action.

The 27-inch model is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, supports HDR10, has a VRR range of 48-144Hz, and will be available to pre-order in the US and Europe from July 1st.

Samsung CRG5: the company’s first G-SYNC Compatible 240Hz curved gaming monitor, designed for eSports and players who demand the fastest response times in first-person shooters and fast-paced games.

Running at 1920x1080, the 27” 1500R curved VA display has a Variable Refresh Rate range of 48-240Hz, with a 3000:1 contrast ratio.

Samsung’s 27” CRG5 G-SYNC Compatible monitor will be available in China from June, Korea from July, and Globally during Q3 2019.

Lenovo Legion Y27GQ-20: this 27” G-SYNC gaming monitor is the first to run at 240Hz at 2560x1440, giving gamers with high-spec rigs the chance to enjoy eSports frame rates and refresh rates at a higher, more detailed resolution, where game elements are clearer and more visible.

These new releases follow the addition of HP OMEN X 25, HP OMEN X 25f and HP 25mx to our list of G-SYNC Compatible monitors, and the launch of other G-SYNC and G-SYNC ULTIMATE gaming monitors at Computex last month.
