New, Faster DLSS 5 AI Model Available Now In NBA 2K27 Season 2

NVIDIA DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering elevates image quality, realism and immersion to new heights.

Where other DLSS technologies focus on reconstructing existing scene data to deliver higher-resolution images, additional frames, or cleaner ray-traced lighting, DLSS Neural Rendering takes the next step by using AI to generate the lifelike lighting and material details that real-time performance constraints have forced developers to strip away, allowing them to realize their original artistic vision.

Neural Rendering uses the game engine’s rendered frame, complete with its artist-designed geometry, textures, and lighting buffers, as an unyielding foundation. DLSS Neural Rendering becomes the final rendering stage of the graphics pipeline, infusing scenes with lifelike lighting and materials while ensuring the engine frame defines what must remain, and the artist directs what may change.

DLSS 5 debuted in NBA 2K27 last month, enhancing texture detail, skin subsurface scattering, contact shadowing, hair rendering, and more, bringing the likenesses of players even closer to reality:

Last week, NBA 2K27’s Season 2 update introduced a new, more performant DLSS 5 AI model that increases frame rates by up to 1.4X on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW:

DLSS 5’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model is now 10X faster overall compared to the model debuted in March, enabling more players of NBA 2K27 and future DLSS 5 games to enjoy DLSS 5’s transformative uplift in lighting and materials at higher frames rates and settings.

NBA 2K27 Season 2 introduces GOAT Builds that let players recreate NBA legends with attributes and physical profiles beyond the standard MyPLAYER Builder limits. Players can also hit the remastered Sunset Beach courts, tackle new MyTEAM challenges, and unlock Halloween-themed cosmetics and all-new seasonal rewards. For more information on Season 2, you can check out the full Courtside Report.

RTX Remix Community Spotlight: Left 4 Dead RTX

Classic PC games are remembered for their incredible stories, characters and gameplay, but dated visuals can make them tough for modern players to enjoy. NVIDIA RTX Remix changes that, enabling modders to reimagine games with path tracing and DLSS, adding stunning detail.

Today, we’re excited to spotlight Left 4 Dead RTX, an ambitious in-development project by NoMercyStudios and published by NightSightProductions (headed by @King Vulpes). Built to bring Valve’s iconic co-op zombie shooter into the next generation, the mod leverages cutting-edge NVIDIA technologies including RTX Neural Radiance Cache (NRC), DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and Multi Frame Generation to completely transform the game’s lighting and visual fidelity.

Developing a mod of this scale solo can be a demanding journey, so this announcement is a call to action for the community. The team is actively looking for passionate developers to join the project and help bring this vision to life. While future playtests prior to a full demo release are still under consideration, you can keep up with development updates in their Discord group, and apply to join the community on the Left 4 Dead RTX project page.

THE FINALS PRIME TIME Available Now

The biggest annual update to THE FINALS has arrived. Embark Studios’ free-to-play, first-person shooter Game Show is set in a futuristic world of high-stakes competition and explosive action, with Arenas filled with destructible buildings and cover, creating chaotic, dynamic multiplayer matches.

The PRIME TIME update reworks classic Arenas with enhanced lighting, models, materials, textures, and more. A new Light class infiltration playstyle has been introduced with two new gadgets, the UI and HUD have been revamped, a pioneering Dynamic Commentary has been introduced, bringing players’ names into the action in real time, and the game’s much lauded unscripted destruction system has received a massive update, making matches even more exciting and dynamic.

THE FINALS’ environments can be completely blown apart by explosives and an arsenal of weapons, enabling players to reshape the map and turn destruction into a tactical advantage. As buildings are blown open, and walls come crashing down, the world’s lighting needs to react realistically as light is occluded or disoccluded. To make this a reality, NVIDIA RTXGI is used to accurately calculate and update light and shadow in real-time on all platforms.

With a GeForce RTX GPU or RTX Spark device, RTXGI can leverage hardware-accelerated ray tracing to produce richer and more realistic global illumination effects. When enabled, you’ll experience light realistically bouncing around the environment, reacting to destruction, and interacting with volumetric fog and smoke. And light and shadow will look even better.

To ensure frame rates stay high in this fast-paced shooter, THE FINALS has featured support for DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation since release, with a later update adding support for DLSS Multi Frame Generation. And to make gameplay even more responsive, all GeForce gamers have been able to activate Reflex since the game’s original release, reducing PC latency.

Via the NVIDIA app, these DLSS integrations can be upgraded with to our latest AI models, further enhancing image quality and accelerating performance, and enabling the use of DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
