Tournament Rules

Tournament Format

  1. For the Regional Qualifiers, only teams that are officially registered through the online registration and the on-site registration are eligible to join the event.
  2. For the Regional Playoffs, only teams that won first place in the Regional Qualifiers are eligible to join.
    1. If a first-placer team is not able to join the Regional Playoffs, the organizers may give the slot to the second-placer team from the same branch and so on.
  3. For the Wildcard Online Qualifiers, only teams that lost the competition from the Regional Qualifiers may join.
    1. For the Wildcard Online Qualifiers only, the participants are to shoulder their own expenses. Expenses include travel expenses, hotel accommodation, and food allowance.
  4. For the Grand Finals only teams that won the Regional Playoffs and the two Wildcard Online Qualifier Winners are eligible to join. The champion will compete at the Finals in Malaysia on January 2020.

Official Rules and Regulations – Counter Strike: Global Offensive

  1. General

    1. This will be the official rulebook for Geforce Cup 2019 PH Qualifiers.
    2. All participants are expected to know and understand all of the rules indicated below. Unawareness of a specific rule will not be considered an acceptable reason for breaking the rule. Ignorance is not an excuse.
    3. Each team must have an appointed team captain/team representative. Only the captain/representative/manager is allowed to communicate with the organizers before, during or after the matches.
    4. The League Operations Team has the right to change the rules with no prior notice or announcement. They also have the right to make decisions on cases not covered by the official rulebook for the fairness of the competition. The League Operations Team decision is final.
    5. Player may not communicate with a spectator (including any team representatives or team affiliated individuals except for other player on such player’s team and, during timeouts, the coach of such team), or a Player other than a Teammate, during the course of a match.
  2. Communication

    1. Email
      1. The main communication tool for Geforce Cup 2019 PH Qualifiers will be via Email. All information about the tournament will be sent via Email.
    2. Discord/Team speak
      1. Only Discord, Team Speak and In-game communication will be allowed for use during the tournament. Any other communication program must be for approval by the League Operations Team.
  3. Eligibility

    1. There is no age requirement for this tournament.
    2. A player's country must be set to their country of residence. Deliberately faking the country of residence is punishable.
    3. The original registrant must always be the final user of the account, which cannot be lent or transferred in any case. This will be considered as account sharing or multi-account and is punishable.
    4. The original registrant’s full name must reflect on his or her government issued identification documents and passport. If it happens that a member of a team has no passport, representation will be passed on to a team that possesses complete member passports next to the first placer’s rank.
    5. Faking of documents and/or identification/identity is punishable by disqualification in the tournament and other future tournaments that the organizers will hold.
  4. Match Setup and Lobby

    1. Teams need to be at the venue 1 hour prior to the designated match start time for setup.
    2. Every team has 10 minutes for setup on stage. All participating teams are REQUIRED to use the keyboard, mouse and headset provided by the organizer. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
    3. The lobby will be created by the League Operations Team. The lobby name and password will be given to the players by the League Operations Team.
    4. To avoid delays in the program of the event, delays caused by players (showing up late, leaving the tournament area without a stated reason, last-minute smoke or toilet break) will lead to sanctions for the entire team.
      1. 5 minutes and beyond – Game will be forfeited.
  5. Match Broadcast

    1. All broadcasting rights of the tournament are owned by Geforce Cup 2019 PH Qualifiers. Players cannot refuse for their matches to be broadcast and streamed. Only the League Operations Team can decide the matches to be streamed.
  6. Game Settings (Qualifiers)

  7. Number of Participants

    1. In the event that the participating teams at the qualifier branch have (4) teams BELOW will compete in a: Single Eliminations, Best of 3 series format.
    2. In the event that the participating teams at the qualifier branch have (4) teams ABOVE will compete in a: Single Eliminations, Best of 1 series format.
  8. Player Conduct

    1. All participants and team managers are required to uphold the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship. Penalties will be given depending on the violation.
    2. Players and team managers who are caught swearing or behaving in a hostile manner towards their opponents or event staff will be issued a warning upon the first infraction. Continued infractions may result in forfeiture of the match or worst, disqualification in the tournament.
    3. Players, Coaches and Team Representatives will act professionally at all times and may not curse or use vulgar or inappropriate language.
    4. All rules of conduct also apply to chatting through the game.
    5. Non-players (including but not limited to managers and coaches) can’t stay behind with team after the game starts.
    6. All participants must wear decent attire on the tournament. Wearing of flip-flops at the tournament are not allowed.
    7. Players, Coaches and Team Representatives may not verbally abuse a tournament official. Verbal abuse of a tournament official includes, but is not limited to, the use of vulgar language, use of insulting words or gestures, excessive argument with a tournament official.
    8. Players, Coaches and Team Representatives may not taunt or celebrate in excess. Excessive taunting/celebration includes, but is not limited to, post-match taunting or celebration directed at or referencing an opponent(s). Post-match interactions between opponents must be limited to acts of sportsmanship.
  9. Technical and Equipment

    1. All Tournament Venues are already equipped with Monitors, Mouse, Keyboard and Headsets.
    2. All participating teams are REQUIRED to use the keyboard, mouse and headset provided by the organizer. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
    3. Players and coaches may not use any removable USB flash drive, unplug anything from a monitor, audio equipment, or touch power units without a tournament official’s permission.
    4. Players are not allowed to open any other programs in the tournament area aside from CSGO client, steam and communication programs including Discord and TeamSpeak. Other websites especially social media sites are not allowed to be opened.
    5. Usage of electronic devices such as mobile phones are strictly prohibited during the whole match.
    6. The Venue, as a collective of the organizers, managers of the event, and the place, is not liable for any damages caused on their personal peripherals.
  10. Results and Dispute

    1. Disputes must be raised during the game and not after the game. The team with concern must call the attention of their respective marshal to address the issue. Disputes raised after the game will not be entertained.
    2. All results must be reported to the respective marshal/organizer right after the match. The winning Team’s captain is required to submit the results to the respective marshal.
  11. Roster

    1. Only the registered line-up will be allowed to play in the tournament.
    2. A team is only allowed to have up to one (1) stand-in on their roster which must have been officially registered in their roster.
    3. The stand-ins must not be currently playing for other teams that are also participating in tournament.
  12. Stoppage of Play

    1. In the case of a disconnection, the game will be paused until the player has reconnected. Pausing without justifiable reasons will be penalized.
    2. Teams are only allowed a maximum of 10 minutes to pause for non-technical issues (5 minutes each team). After the 10-minute period, the game shall be continued regardless of the situation.
    3. If all the players from one team unintentionally disconnects, the opposing team is required to pause the game. Failure to do so may lead to disqualification, depending on the discretion of the marshal.
    4. In the unlikely event that one or more of the players can’t reconnect, the game situation will be analyzed by the League Operations Team and will decide on how the game should progress. The decision of the League Operations Team is FINAL and IRREVERSIBLE.
  13. Breaks

    1. Teams who want to have break must ask permission to their marshal first before doing so. Unauthorized breaks may result to penalties and disqualification.
    2. Teams are not allowed to do bathroom/washroom breaks once the game has started. This can be done in between games during the break given to each team.
  14. Rule Violation Penalties and Punishment

    1. Violation or not following any of the rules, regulations, terms and conditions will result in penalties or disqualifications. Tournament marshal may apply penalties according to their judgment and discretion.
    2. Penalties that can be applied are the following:
      • First Offense – Verbal Warning.
      • Second Offense - Disqualification of a player/team from the entire tournament and deduction on the cash prize.
    3. Disqualifications are applied by the tournament officials, be it admins or organizers, and will void all rights for the entire team to participate further in the tournament.
  15. Cash Prize Money

    1. All prize money should ideally be paid out 60 to 90 banking days after the tournament, but it may take as long as 180 days for the payment to be completed. In any case, the distribution may come early as the given dates.

  16. Rights of Privacy

    1. League Operations Team, has the right to collect information and details, to shoot and use materials (e.g. interviews, video and photos) publicly without any consent.
  17. League Operations Team Rights

    1. The League Operations Team may overrule all rules based on the situation. The League Operations Team holds the right to change the rules as it deems fit. Decision of the League Operations Team is ALWAYS final.
    2. League Operations Team has the final decision. These rules may be changed under extreme circumstances.
    3. The League Operations Team has the right to disqualify and dismiss any registered player from the tournament, at their discretion, at any stage of the tournament, for any reason, with no prior warning to the player.
