NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge

Sensor-over-Ethernet streaming platform.

Overview

Simplifying High-Speed Sensor Fusion

NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge (HSB) streams sensor data over hardware-accelerated Ethernet directly into GPU memory on supported NVIDIA platforms. It combines open-source FPGA IP, MCU firmware, and NVIDIA software behind one standard userspace API, so cameras, radar, LiDAR, ultrasound, and RF front ends all connect the same way, over a scalable Ethernet fabric, with no kernel drivers or DTS configurations. Robotics, medical, and instrumentation teams get microsecond-class sensor-to-GPU latency with near-zero CPU load.

Benefits

Ultra-Fast and Easy to Use for Any Sensor Data Streaming

Ultra-Low Latency

Holoscan Sensor Bridge ensures real-time data processing, reducing latency by up to 10x compared to software-based Ethernet systems. This means faster decision-making and more responsive applications, which are crucial in dynamic environments like robotics, medical devices, and scientific instruments.

Ease of Use

The Holoscan Sensor Bridge not only lets you significantly cut down the time required to create and integrate sensor drivers, but also facilitates efficient sensor fusion. The streamlined process reduces development time by up to 100x, allowing teams to focus more on innovation and less on tedious setup and configuration.

Scalability

The modular design makes it easy to scale and adapt to different needs, from 1GbE to 100GbE connectivity. You can integrate Holoscan IP into single sensor designs or multiple sensor aggregation systems, enabling flexible, customizable configurations that scale from compact deployments to large, complex systems.

Safety and Security

The Holoscan Sensor Bridge is built with end-to-end safety protocols, meeting up to SIL 2 standards. This ensures that data streaming is not only processed efficiently, but also securely, providing a robust and reliable solution for critical applications where safety is paramount.

Getting Started With Holoscan Sensor Bridge

Explore Holoscan Sensor Bridge Software

Holoscan Sensor Bridge software, built on NVIDIA Holoscan, delivers data from the bridge's sensor ports directly into GPU memory. A standard API covers streaming DMA and control interfaces such as GPIO, SPI, I2C, and custom registers across three transport protocols: RoCEv2 for hosts equipped with NVIDIA ConnectX, Camera-over-Ethernet (CoE) for NVIDIA Jetson Thor, and standard Linux sockets for other hosts. Sensor vendors and developers build drivers on that API in C++ or Python and create applications with open-source reference code.
