Introducing 1440p Esports Displays, Stunning New OLED, Mini-LED, And More, Powered by NVIDIA G-SYNC

By Ryan Narragon on January 04, 2022 | Featured Stories G-SYNC NVIDIA Reflex

At CES 2022, NVIDIA and our partners announced a bevy of new world class displays and technologies for all types of use cases, enabled by NVIDIA G-SYNC and GeForce. Read on for the debut of 1440p esports displays, new frontiers for OLED and mini-LED, HDR10+ GAMING on GeForce GPUs, and much more.

A New Monitor Category - 1440p Esports

With the global growth in esports, the demand for esports displays has been doubling each year. 1080p displays have ruled esports for over a decade - as the lower resolution has enabled higher framerates and faster refresh rates. With today’s top GeForce RTX GPUs rendering esports games well above 360 frames per second at 1440p - the industry is primed for a change.

Today, we are taking esports to the next level with a new category of esports displays -- 1440p, 27” up to 360Hz, with a suite of features tailored for competitive gamers.

27” 1440p Displays Improve Aiming

Higher resolution panels improve aiming performance because they provide larger and more detailed targets.

In fact, our research found that 1440p 27 inch displays can improve aiming by up to 3% over traditional 1080 24 inch displays when aiming at small targets. For competitive gamers, 3% is often the difference between victory and defeat.

360Hz - The Pinnacle of Smoothness at 1440p

Smooth movement is key for quickly interpreting scenes in motion and staying on target. Now, 1440p 27” displays reach the same 360Hz refresh rate as 1080p 25” displays - thanks to AUO’s IPS innovations like Dual-Driver. These high refresh rates generate the same smooth and responsive feeling of a 1080p 25” display, but in a larger, crisper form factor.

Esports Vibrance

Competitive gamers have long used the “Digital Vibrance” mode in the NVIDIA Control Panel to help make enemies pop and add more color to scenes. The new class of 1440p G-SYNC esports displays have an enhanced vibrance mode – specifically tuned for esports – built directly into the monitor firmware.

These incredible colors burst from the screen thanks to mini-LED backlights and oxide (IGZO) transistors. With more light traveling through the LCD crystals, colors reach a new level of vibrance - making them perfect for games like Valorant. With mini-LED, gamers can get an HDR feel with SDR content.

Dual-Format 25”

We get it - sometimes you want to play on a smaller display for certain games. We have you covered.  With Dual-Format, you can play at the familiar 25” diagonal size at 1080p. Simply enable Dual-Format in the monitor settings and choose your desired resolution.

We have also added a new special resolution that makes a pixel perfect 25” display for increased 25” sharpness.

Reflex Analyzer Becomes Automatic

Reflex Analyzer is now automatically configured - making latency measurement a 1-click experience that is incredibly easy to use.  Now, all you have to do is plug your mouse into the proper USB port on your monitor and hit Alt + R - that’s it. You can now switch weapons, use weapons without muzzle flashes, and measure latency while playing the game.

With this latest update, the flash indicator is now controlled by GeForce Experience and will only be shown if the latency or Reflex Analyzer overlays are enabled. Gamers with a Reflex Mouse will be provided full end-to-end system latency measurements, while gamers without a Reflex Mouse can still measure PC + Display Latency. To use automatic configuration on your Reflex Analyzer display in a supported Reflex game, grab the next release of GeForce Experience and the latest Game Ready Driver.

New G-SYNC Compatible 4K and 8K OLED TVs for Big-Screen Immersive Gaming

The new year welcomes new G-SYNC Compatible OLED TVs for an incredible gaming experience in your living room.

Long standing GeForce partner LG will be adding brand new 8K OLED TVs to their 2022 lineup including two 8K models (88” OLED88Z2, 77” OLED77Z2) in addition to brand new 4K OLED TVs with the G2 Series, C2 Series, and the B2 series all ranging from 42” to 97”. Additionally, LG announced that all of its 2022 models will support GeForce NOW as well as some 2021 models.

To showcase their latest TVs, LG and GeForce partnered to show Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy running at 8K 60 FPS with RTX-powered ray tracing and DLSS.

LG, Philips and Xiaomi’s  flagship OLED G-SYNC Compatible TVs, now feature automatic NVIDIA GPU detection, latency improvements for 60Hz gaming, and HDMI 2.1 compatibility right out of the box. The feature automatically detects the compatible HDMI 2.1 4K HFR/VRR-supporting on NVIDIA GPUs, which allows automatic optimization on both the input lag and VRR settings to deliver an advanced gaming experience.

Phillips also announced that its recently released 2021 models (OLED806 48” and 77”, OLED706 65”, and OLED936 55”) will support GeForce NOW with an upcoming driver.

NVIDIA GeForce GPUs to Support HDR10+ GAMING

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series, RTX 20 Series, and GTX 16 Series GPUs will all support the HDR10+ GAMING standard with drivers scheduled for release in 2022.

HDR10+ GAMING allows Source Side Tone Mapping (SSTM) on HDR content. Through this feature, supported games get a true reference mode without the need for twiddling with game settings to achieve HDR accuracy.

At CES, Samsung demonstrated HDR10+ GAMING with GeForce RTX GPUs. Samsung is planning to support HDR10+ GAMING on a number of their 2022 TVs and gaming monitors.
