New GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs and NVIDIA Studio Advancements Deliver Massive Performance Leap to Creators, Modders, and Livestreamers

At this year’s virtual special address at CES, NVIDIA unveiled new hardware driven by the ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace architecture, as well as new NVIDIA Studio features.

A newly announced GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU, powerful new NVIDIA Studio laptops with GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs, updates to NVIDIA Omniverse, Canvas, Broadcast, and RTX Remix, and a new RTX Video Super Resolution feature raise the NVIDIA Studio platform to new heights, bringing new possibilities to not just gamers, but creators, modders, and livestreamers around the globe.

NVIDIA Broadcast is getting a new Eye Contact feature, and NVIDIA Remix — the free modding platform — showcases the first community mod built on the platform, Portal Prelude with RTX. And coming to GeForce RTX 40 and 30 Series GPUs next month, a new RTX Video Super Resolution feature improves video sharpness and clarity, and lets people watch any online content upscaled to the native resolution of their displays. 

The new NVIDIA Studio laptops deliver increased performance, efficiency, and now portability with the GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs and fifth gen Max-Q technologies. With third-generation RT Cores, fourth-generation Tensor Cores, DLSS 3, AV1 encoding and more, gamers, creators, modders, and livestreamers can not only game at previously impossible levels and speeds, but also create, stream, and share their experiences in whole new ways.

New Studio laptops bring the biggest leap in performance generation to generation, providing up to 2x performance compared to the prior generation.

The instantly recognizable Razer Blade laptop gets an RTX 40 Series upgrade with the first 90-class laptop GPU ever — the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The 16-inch, HDR-capable, dual-mode, mini-LED display boasts 1,000 nits peak brightness, which pairs nicely with a Creator mode that enables sharp, ultra-high-definition+ native resolution at 120Hz — and can be switched to Gamer mode to provide an ultra-smooth 240Hz refresh rate in native FHD+.

MSI’s Stealth series will launch with a wide range of Studio options. With 14- to 17-inch models, and up to GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPUs, creators can pick the laptop that best suits their needs.

The new ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 is powered by GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop graphics.

The increased efficiency of RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs and fifth-generation Max-Q Technologies enable 14-inch laptops to equip up to powerful RTX 4070 GPUs, whereas traditionally such small machines only came with 50-class GPUs. The ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is one example, with a GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU in a super-thin 14-inch design, and accompanied by an all-new, cutting-edge 2.8K 120Hz OLED NanoEdge Dolby Vision display.

For those that prefer their desktop builds, the new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU is a perfect option, available starting Thursday, Jan. 5. It offers incredible performance, and is up to 15% faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti in 3D rendering, at nearly half the power.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU supports AV1, the next generation codec, enabling livestreamers to push higher resolutions, with improved quality at the current max bit rates in popular streaming apps and platforms. Gamers will be able to stream the latest PC games with RTX at up to 4K 60FPS with AV1 encoding.

This new GPU also includes dual eighth-generation encoders, which can operate in tandem to reduce video export time in half. The most popular video editing apps — Adobe Premiere Pro (via the Voukoder plugin), DaVinci Resolve and Jianying — have already been updated to support it.

The January Studio Driver, supporting the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti launch, will be available for download later this week.

Livestreamers can take their streams to the next level with GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs and NVIDIA Broadcast, which is getting an upgrade this month.

The NVIDIA Broadcast app can turn any room into a home studio, enhancing your microphone and webcam with powerful AI effects like virtual background, noise and room echo removal, and more. The app is adding a new Eye Contact feature that can change the position of the subject’s eyes to appear as if they are looking at the camera. The update also adds a new vignette effect and improves the popular virtual background feature, using temporal information for increased stability.

For those who enjoy watching livestreams, NVIDIA also introduced RTX Video Super Resolution — an AI feature that enhances any video watched through Chrome and Edge browsers. It uses AI to clean up encoding errors and upscale images, providing cleaner and sharper visuals when viewing 720p or 1080p resolution content on higher-resolution monitors. This feature will be available for both GeForce RTX 40 and 30 Series GPUs next month — RTX 20 Series GPUs support will be added at a later date.

For the modding community, RTX Remix is approaching its early-access release. RTX Remix is built on Omniverse and was used to create the jaw-dropping Portal With RTX. Nicolas “NykO18” Grevet — the creator of Portal’s most popular mod, Portal: Prelude — was given early access to RTX Remix to remaster his unofficial Portal prequel from 2008. Grevet is working with modder David “Kralich” Driver-Gomm to modernize the assets and relight the game with stunning, full ray tracing. Portal: Prelude with RTX will soon be free to download from mod sites like ModDB and Nexus Mods.

A new suite of generative AI tools and experimental plug-ins harnesses the power of AI as the ultimate creative assistant. In addition, a Blender alpha branch release with new AI integrations for Audio2Face allows artists to seamlessly create realistic scenes and animate characters.
