Watch Dogs: Legion Available Now with Ray Tracing and DLSS

Watch Dogs: Legion is available now on Uplay, powered by NVIDIA’s RTX platform! Head to a near-future London oppressed by authoritarian opportunists and recruit the city’s citizens to join the DedSec Resistance. Each has different skills, allowing you to traverse and tackle missions in numerous ways.

On PC, the open-world game is enhanced with ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS, higher detail levels, ultra-widescreen support, and multi-monitor support. When RTX is enabled, London’s streets, buildings, vehicles and famous sights will feature realistic opaque and transparent reflections, and performance will be boosted by DLSS, our AI rendering technology that’s powered by dedicated Tensor Core processors, found exclusively on GeForce RTX GPUs.

Take a first look in our new ray tracing trailer, captured on the GeForce RTX 3080 with DLSS enabled:

Real-Time Ray-Traced Reflections

Watch Dogs: Legion makes extensive use of real-time ray-traced reflections, replacing and complementing cube maps and screen space reflections to bring dynamic high-detail reflections to windows, vehicles, wet surfaces, bodies of water, buildings, and all other suitably reflective objects and game details.

With three detail levels, ray tracing can be scaled across configurations, enabling all GeForce RTX gamers to enjoy the increased detail, fidelity, realism and immersion that we’ve worked with Ubisoft to bring to Watch Dogs: Legion.

As the detail level is raised, additional rays are traced, helping to display more detail, and the maximum distance rays travel is increased, enabling distant game elements to be accurately reflected. As the distance from the camera increases further still, ray-traced reflections smoothly blend with the game’s rasterized reflection techniques to give players the best possible experience.

To enable Ray-Traced Reflections in Watch Dogs: Legion, download and install our latest Game Ready Driver, the latest version of the game from Uplay, and the latest Windows 10 updates. Enter the game’s video options, head to the “Quality” tab, switch to DirectX 12 if currently using DirectX 11, scroll down the list of options, and select a Ray-Traced Reflections detail level.

Watch Dogs: Legion is the first open world game to launch with ray traced reflections, perfectly demonstrating the advantages of ray tracing for similar titles, which have long struggled with immersion-breaking cubemaps on the hundreds of thousands of windows found throughout each virtual city.

NVIDIA DLSS

NVIDIA DLSS, is our critically acclaimed AI rendering technology that boosts frame rates with uncompromised image quality via dedicated AI processing Tensor Cores found exclusively on GeForce RTX GPUs.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, DLSS accelerates frame rates by up to 2X at 4K using the recommended DLSS Performance mode, enabling the GeForce RTX 3080 to run at playable frame rates at 4K Ultra with ray tracing. And with the new Ultra Performance mode, you can play at 8K on the GeForce RTX 3090.

To enable DLSS, simply scroll down the list of settings in Options > Video > Quality, and select a DLSS mode. Quality is recommended for 1920x1080; Balanced for 2560x1440; Performance for 3840x2160; and Ultra Performance for 7680x4320.
