What is Maximus?

NVIDIA® Maximus™ technology combines the visualization and interactive design capability of NVIDIA Quadro® GPUs and the high-performance computing power of NVIDIA Tesla® GPUs in a single workstation. On an NVIDIA Maximus system the Tesla GPU companion processor performs the heavy lifting of photorealistic rendering or engineering simulation computation. This frees up CPU resources for the work they are best suited for while freeing the Quadro GPU to power rich, full-performance, interactive design.

Designers and engineers can now perform simultaneous CAE, rendering, or structural/fluid analysis on the same system being used for design work. Plus, content-creation professionals can perform faster video editing, effects, and animation.

Reinventing workflow with NVIDIA Maximus technology – faster iterations equates to faster time to market

When configuring your Maximus workstation, the Quadro GPU and Tesla GPU must be based on the same NVIDIA architecture. The latest Maximus configuration is made up of the Quadro K5000 paired with a Tesla K20. First generation Maximus configurations are made up of a Tesla C2075 combined with a choice of a Quadro 6000 down to a Quadro 600.
