A true PC experience for everyone—everywhere. NVIDIA® VGX technology

User-Selectable Machines (USMs)

NVIDIA VGX technology includes configurability options called User-Selectable Machines (USMs) that allow system administrators to configure the VGX boards to take on the characteristics of specific GPU segments (e.g. NVIDIA standard, NVIDIA NVS™, or NVIDIA Quadro®). This enables IT departments to easily support multiple types and pools of users, all from a single server.

USMs allow optimal utilization of hardware resources and the flexibility to configure and deploy new users' desktops based on changing enterprise demands throughout the day, week, or season.

True PC Experience

NVIDIA® standard User-Selectable Machine

The NVIDIA standard USM comes bundled with NVIDIA VGX boards and provides up to 100 knowledge workers with a true PC experience via GPU-VDI. With the standard NVIDIA USM, enterprise knowledge workers can experience low-latency, high-quality interaction with all office productivity applications and view smooth rich-media playback on any device.

Technical Computing

NVIDIA NVS™ User-Selectable Machine

The NVS USM delivers a stable NVS system image for mission-critical professionals—such as financial traders and multi-monitor knowledge workers—who use a variety of productivity and dedicated business applications. It delivers the multi-monitor support of NVS while also enabling true desktop-level performance and full multimedia functionality. Even the Windows user interface takes advantage of a GPU for acceleration, allowing CPU offload and very high VDI density per server.

NVIDIA® Quadro® User-Selectable Machine

NVIDIA Quadro is the standard in the workstation industry. The Quadro USM provides industry-leading support for designers, artists, and scientists who rely on specific technical workstation applications that require interactive 3D graphics and full compatibility. All professional graphics and compute APIs (DirectX, OpenGL, CUDA, etc.) are supported to enable full workstation application certifications, enabling IT managers to deploy the same Quadro desktop experience remotely.

Comparison of User Selectable Machines v. Traditional VDI
