and Build

All Omniverse Kit-based apps are built as reference applications, so you can use them as they are or just plug into the platform layer of the Omniverse stack to easily build new tools and services.

Omniverse USD Composer lets you build scenes in 3D.

World-building

Simplify Scene Composition

USD Composer brings advanced layout tools to help you build incredible worlds with unparalleled ease. Bring in your own assets or fill in from USD Composer’s libraries, including trees, furniture, roads, and more. Then move and compose your scene easily and intuitively with Zero Gravity Mode, powered by NVIDIA PhysX 5 for natural asset manipulation. Omniverse Connectors also let you import landscapes from industry-leading tools like Epic Games' Unreal Engine or SideFX Houdini.

Rendering, Materials, Lighting

Breathtaking Photorealism

USD Composer includes RTX Renderer, an advanced, multi-GPU enabled, path-traced renderer that lets you render billions of polygons with beautiful global illumination, reflections, and refractions—all at the speed of light and powered by NVIDIA RTX™ technology. With support for multiple GPUs, even the Path Tracer can hit real-time rates coupled with NVIDIA vMaterials for realistic scenes and true-to-reality visualizations. Plus, USD collections and light linking enable lighting artists to control object lighting and shadow properties easily.

Animation

Make It Move

USD Composer supports animation from tools like Autodesk Maya, Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, and Autodesk 3ds Max and supports features like animation clips, skeletal animation, animation caches, and blend shapes. In USD Composer, you can either play back these animations in real time or render them into movies. USD Composer now also features a graph editor for more powerful animation curve editing.

Simulation and Effects

Recreating Reality

USD Composer includes advanced simulation capabilities, including direct integration of NVIDIA PhysX 5, Blast, and Flow for true-to-reality rigid and deformable body physics, destruction, fire, and smoke simulation. You can also use tools like SideFX Houdini to export USD animations and effects that can be brought in and rendered in USD Composer.

Share It Anywhere

Export your simulation as an MP4, sequential images, or an interactive standalone playback with the Create’s Movie Maker tool. Sharing high-fidelity augmented reality to both Android and iOS devices is also easy with  NVIDIA Omniverse™ Streaming Client and NVIDIA CloudXR. Plus, Omniverse VR is the first full-frame real-time ray-traced VR experience—in beta with the new Omniverse XR app.

Experimental Features

Making 3D Creation Easier

Omniverse includes access to experimental and beta generative AI tools to help you build 3D scenes and worlds.

To accelerate environment concepting and staging, NVIDIA Canvas lets you easily create 8K environments from a simple sketch at speed. Extensions within AI ToyBox make aspects of 3D world creation and exploration, like object modeling and materials, even simpler with generative AI

**All generative AI research projects and Connectors available in NVIDIA Omniverse use legally licensed and purchased datasets.

  • How to Build Simulation-Ready USD 3D Assets

    • Renato Gasoto, Robotics & AI Engineer, NVIDIA
    • Beau Perschall, Director, Omniverse Sim Data Ops, NVIDIA

The next wave of industries and AI requires us to build physically accurate virtual worlds indistinguishable from reality. Creating virtual worlds is hard, and today's existing universe of 3D assets is inadequate, representing just the visual representation of an object. Whether building digital twins or virtual worlds for training and testing autonomous vehicles or robots, 3D assets require many more technical properties, requiring a need to develop and adopt novel processes, techniques, and tools. NVIDIA is introducing a new class of 3D assets called "SimReady" assets—the building blocks of virtual worlds. SimReady assets are more than just 3D objects—they encompass accurate physical properties, behavior, and connected data streams built on Universal Scene Description (USD). We'll show you how to get started with SimReady USD assets, and present the tools and techniques required to develop and test these assets.
