NVIDIANs IN ACTION

NVIDIANs share a passion for supporting the communities in which we live and do business. Take a look at some of the ways our employees turned this passion for giving into action in FY21.

Fitness Fundraiser Nets $265K for COVID

Fitness Fundraiser Nets $265K for COVID

More than 300 NVIDIANs from across the company joined a friendly competition to stay fit—and raise funds for those affected by the pandemic —in a month-long fitness challenge. In all, they raised $265,000 to support six organizations: Meals on Wheels America, Feeding America, Doctors without Borders, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley Community Foundations, and First Responders First.

Helping the Homeless in Austin

Austin-based NVIDIANs Arun Arunachalam and JP Athimoolam participated in a virtual 5K charity event and raised nearly $13,000 to help the homeless. The funds were split between two local nonprofits—Lighter Loads, which provides mobile hygiene services, and Hungry Souls, which supplies food to those in need.

Sewing Masks for Essential Workers

Sewing Masks for Essential Workers

NVIDIANs in Durham, Santa Clara, St. Louis, and Westford put their sewing skills to work to stitch together more than a thousand washable masks for local essential workers and hospitals. One effort, led by long-time employee Laura Wilson, director of global real estate and site services programs, included collecting source materials, pre-washing and ironing the fabric, and preparing cutting and sewing instructions. Several staffers did the same on their own, collecting funds for supplies and even teaching themselves to sew from YouTube tutorials.

Harvesting Hope for Those in Need

Following the destructive wildfires that ravaged Northern California communities, Santa Clara employee Kelly Yang began volunteering with Aglantis. This is a nonprofit focused on food equity, education and job training, environmental protection, and economic development. Yang contributes 10 hours every month, helping to grow and harvest vegetables to feed fire victims and those unemployed due to COVID.

Responding to the Beirut Explosion

Responding to the Beirut Explosion

When the devastating explosion in Beirut killed 178 people and left 300,000 homeless, Lebanese employees Jibran Jahshan and Rima Alameddine jumped into action, calling on colleagues to donate funds to help with response efforts. More than 300 employees contributed to the effort, which raised nearly $174,000 for the Lebanese Red Cross.

Feeding Families in Need

Members of our IT team in Bangalore took part in local initiatives to distribute grocery kits and other supplies to support laborers and other low-income earners who lost work due to the COVID shutdown. Arun Prasad worked with his neighbors to distribute a month’s worth of groceries to 50 migrant laborers and their families. Manju Shivanna distributed grocery kits and over 300 masks to construction workers, security, and staff in his residential community. And Ilam Muthu led an effort to fund and distribute grocery kits to around 2,500 families in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.

Helping Local Farm Get Back to Business

Helping Local Farm Get Back to Business

Staffers from Bon Appetit, our Santa Clara food service team, hosted a happy hour event to raise funds for Pie Ranch, an educational farm in the Santa Cruz mountains that was impacted by the California wildfires. Our chefs did live demonstrations of cocktail and appetizer recipes using Pie Ranch products. Attendees contributed more than $3,000 to help rebuild the organization’s historic farmhouse, which was lost in the fire.

Raising Funds for Men’s Health

For the 10th straight year, a group of NVIDIANs joined together to participate in Movember, an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health. Nearly 50 employees from across the U.S. participated, raising more than $64,000 to support projects focused on issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

Bringing Holiday Cheer to Foster Children

Bringing Holiday Cheer to Foster Children

Forgoing a traditional holiday celebration, our Shield Marketing team instead gathered virtually to create superhero kits to inspire foster children to find their inner-superhero. The event supported nonprofit Together We Rise, an organization that strives to give foster children a brighter future, a sense of normalcy and belonging.
