NVIDIA and Sony Development Deliver One-of-a-kind Visual Experience at New Metreon - A Sony Entertainment Center
SANTA CLARA, CA – JUNE 11, 1999 – NVIDIA™ Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), one of the world's leading suppliers of high performance 3D processors for mainstream PCs, and Sony Development announced today the selection of the RIVA TNT2™ as the official 3D graphics processor for Metreon, the new Sony Entertainment Center located in San Francisco, which opens on June 16th. The award winning RIVA TNT2 graphics processor will be featured in Airtight Garage, Metreon's adventure zone, located within this first-of-its-kind entertainment complex. The 3D processor will render new universes and take the audience into the new dimensions of Quaternia, Badlands and HyperBowl—three original interactive games developed exclusively for Metreon.
"We knew that Airtight Garage would feature compelling gaming entertainment that had never been seen before; NVIDIA helps us achieve that," said Dave Spencer, Senior Vice President of Sony Development's Entertainment Technology Group. "The RIVA TNT2 graphics processor along with some of the exciting new technologies Sony has created for Airtight Garage, allows guests to play exciting new games on a distant asteroid or a strange forgotten feudal world with the absolute highest level of visual quality, and experience them as if they were actually there."
The games located in Metreon's incredible adventure zone, Airtight Garage, are inspired by the science fiction and fantasy designs of French graphic novelist Jean "Moebius" Giraud. Benefiting from the RIVA TNT2's incredible combination of performance and visual quality, which is made available via the Diamond Viper™ V770 AGP video card from Diamond Multimedia Systems (NASDAQ: DIMD), Sony's exciting new technology, created exclusively for Metreon, allows guests to discover exotic new worlds and other dimensions through the three interactive games.
"NVIDIA's and Sony's technologies are a perfect match for Airtight Garage," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of NVIDIA. "The combination produces a captivating, stunning visual experience for people of all ages. We are very excited and proud to be part of the launch of the Metreon."
