World's Fastest GPUs Drive Performance Needs for AGP 4X and Fast Writes

SANTA CLARA, CA. – NOVEMBER 15, 1999 – Continuing to raise the graphics performance bar, NVIDIA™ Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) today announced that the GeForce 256TM and NVIDIA QuadroTM graphics processing units (GPU) are the first 3D processors to fully support the new Intel® new 820 chipset. The combination of NVIDIA's revolutionary GPUs and Intel's 820 chipset provides end users with an ultra-high-performance platform capable of delivering next-generation PC graphics that incorporate massive geometric complexity, complex physics, artificial intelligence and lifelike character animation. The GeForce 256 and Quadro GPUs are the only graphics processors to support both AGP 4X and Fast Writes.

The Biggest Thing to Hit 3D Graphics
The GeForce 256 and Quadro GPUs are immensely complex devices with nearly 23 million transistors each. With 50 giga-FLOPS of processing power dedicated to 3D, equivalent to the performance of a maximum-configured 256-processor Cray T3D, NVIDIA's GPUs deliver an unprecedented 15 million sustained polygons per second and 480 million pixels per second. They support up to 128MB of frame buffer memory, AGP 4X with Fast Writes – a unique feature in NVIDIA's GPU – and a 350MHz RAMDAC to drive the most extreme resolutions and color depths, up to 2048 x 1536 @ 75Hz. In addition to Microsoft® DirectX® support, the GeForce 256 and Quadro GPUs provide full support for an OpenGL® Installable Client Driver (ICD) for Windows® 2000 and Windows NT®.
