SANTA CLARA, CA — FEBRUARY 6, 2002 — In conjunction with today’s launch of the Company’s new GeForce4 family of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), NVIDIA® Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) is pleased to announce that the world’s fastest mobile GPU, the GeForce4™ 440 Go, is now available as a standard offering in the new Toshiba Satellite 5005-S507 notebook. The new Satellite 5005-S507 combines the power of NVIDIA’s breakthrough mobile 3D graphics performance with a 15-inch, high resolution, UXGA (1600x1200) personal theatre display; on-board Harman/Kardon® high fidelity sound system with a built-in subwoofer; S/PDIF Dolby® Digital Optical-Out for digital recording; and a 5.1 Dolby Digital output for connection to home theater sound systems. The Toshiba Satellite 5005-S507 notebook is available for immediate online ordering from www.shoptoshiba.com and computer retail outlets nationwide.
“We are ecstatic to be the first major notebook manufacturer to use NVIDIA’s GeForce4 440 Go mobile GPU,” said Oscar Koenders, vice president of product marketing, Toshiba CSG. “We anticipate a huge demand for the Satellite 5005-S507, largely in part to the GeForce4 440 Go’s unprecedented features, including the built-in Video Processing Engine, Accuview Antialiasing technology, and stellar battery power management techniques. Clearly, the GeForce4 440 Go provides both the power and performance that mobile users have been demanding and has raised the bar in which notebook computers must be compared.”
NVIDIA’s GeForce4 Go family of mobile GPUs (formerly code-named NV17M) incorporate a variety of power saving techniques, including voltage and frequency scaling, to maximize battery life while providing optimal graphics performance. Dedicated hardware, including an integrated Video Processing Engine (VPE), Accuview Antialiasing engine, and an ultra efficient memory architecture, ensure end users of the fastest computing experience ever realized on a mobile PC platform. Available in different configurations including a 64-bit and 128-bit memory interface and 16, 32, or 64MB frame buffer memory, the GeForce4 Go family of mobile GPUs delivers gripping graphics for all notebook PCs, ranging from thin-and-light sub-notebook PCs to traditional desktop replacements.
“The GeForce4 440 Go mobile GPU dramatically raises the bar for notebook graphics performance,” said Jeff Fisher, vice president of worldwide sales for NVIDIA. “Consumers looking for the ultimate in portable PC functionality and performance need look no further than Toshiba’s exciting and very innovative multimedia platform.”
