So far 2019 has shaped up to be a great one for PC Games. Several game franchises brought out the next iteration of their venerable series, with sequels like Metro: Exodus, Mortal Kombat 11, and Tropico 6. Other recent releases include the highly anticipated Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the wacky My Friend Pedro, and the beautiful Outer Wilds. Before you know it, the holiday rush of AAA titles will be here too!

This month we’ll be featuring Dauntless, the free-to-play online action RPG from developer Phoenix Labs.

In Dauntless, players team up as Slayers to hunt down mighty Behemoths who reside in the Shattered Isles and feed off of energy known as Aether. Aether not only fuels the Behemoths who roam the land, but it also keeps islands afloat. It’s up to Slayers to fight off the Behemoth threat and forge their legend across the Shattered Isles.

Slayers must eliminate the Behemoths before they destroy everyone and everything. Behemoths are large, powerful beasts that all have different skill sets and attack patterns. Some are tank-like creatures that move slowly, lumbering towards players and dealing out heavy blows before meeting their demise. Others are quick and powerful, demanding strategic planning from you and your team to defeat. Many also have strengths and weaknesses tied to elements such as Fire (Blaze), Ice (Frost), and Electricity (Shock) and more, so you’ll want to make sure you have the right gear equipped for each hunt!

Once a Behemoth is defeated, Slayers can craft powerful gear from its remains. Gear includes weapons and armor sets based on the Behemoths whose parts were gathered, and each Behemoth offers its own unique set. If you and your friends have just successfully taken down a Blaze behemoth, for example, you’ll want to use those items to craft weapons for your next encounter with a Frost behemoth as Blaze items are effective against Frost.

Many of the best moments in Dauntless happen when you coordinate with friends and strangers alike to take down higher level beasts in the world. Taking advantage of the wide variety of weapon types, from the slow-but-hard-hitting hammer to the rapid-attacking chain blades, is key to success against the Behemoth threat. There are load-out combinations that accommodate all play styles and preferences.

Dauntless runs smoothly on the latest NVIDIA 20 series GPUs, giving players high frame rates at both 1080p and 4K.

Dauntless is enjoying massive popularity right now, with over 10 million players arriving in Ramsgate to take on Behemoths since launch. The press too is enjoying Dauntless:

Dualshockers awarded the game a 9/10 lauding the game for its wealth of content and polished gameplay experience, stating “Dauntless is an absolute triumph.”

Gamespot gave the game a 7 /10 and said “Dauntless is clearly an experience that has been optimized to deliver the most stress-free multiplayer session possible.”

IGN gave the game an 8.5/10 and said “Dauntless is a surprising achievement not only for its insanely fun and accessible monster hunting action, but also for its seamless cross-platform multiplayer and non-intrusive free-to-play mechanics.”

Dauntless is available now on the Epic Games Store.
