FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Release Date and System Requirements Revealed; Benchmark Coming Soon

Last August we revealed that FINAL FANTASY XV was coming to PC in 2018 as “FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION”, and that in addition to supporting NVIDIA Ansel and ShadowPlay Highlights, it was loaded with graphics-enhancing NVIDIA GameWorks effects.

Today, we can reveal that a FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark will launch February 1st, followed by the complete game on March 6th. For all the details, as well as the official system requirements and news about the game’s pricing, keep reading.

FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION System Requirements

The PC edition of FINAL FANTASY XV features a huge suite of graphics options that can be configured to increase or decrease fidelity beyond the levels seen on consoles. This enables gamers with older PCs to play the game, and those with newer systems to crank up the settings to enjoy greater levels of detail, improved effects, and our NVIDIA GameWorks enhancements.

To help PC gamers get ready for the release of FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION, Square Enix has drawn up three specifications that ensure a smooth, playable experience throughout the duration of the lengthy game:

Per Square Enix, the “Recommended” and “4K HDR” recommendations above will give you at least 30 FPS at all times, with a High level of detail. For a 60 FPS experience, our testing with pre-release builds reveals that a GeForce GTX 1070 is required at 1920x1080, and a GeForce GTX 1080 at 2560x1440. At 4K, some settings will have to be turned down on a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, but with the increased pixel count the experience will still be far beyond anything you’ve previously seen in other releases of FINAL FANTASY XV.

FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Release Date, Price, and Features

In addition to announcing that FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION will launch on March 6th, Square Enix has revealed that the long-awaited PC release will cost $49.99 in the United States.

For that price you’ll get the base game, all season pass content (EPISODE GLADIOLUS, EPISODE PROMPTO, MULTIPLAYER EXPANSION: COMRADES and EPISODE IGNIS); more than a dozen pieces of downloadable content, including weapons, car skins and item sets; a new PC first-person camera mode; and a bunch of other improvements that add an expanded area with new quests and enemies, a boat for water-based exploration and fishing, a new “Armiger Unleashed” battle mode, and much more.

And don’t forget, the PC edition can be modded, so expect to see new content and features released for years to come from skilled, mod-making players.

FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark

Having seen the system requirements and recommendations above, you can soon test the game’s performance for yourself with the FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark, available to download from Square Enix’s website on February 1st.

With the benchmark you’ll be able to test your system’s mettle with 6 minutes of gameplay from several scenes and scenarios, and share your results online, to see how your system fares against those of other gamers.

Use NVIDIA Ansel To Capture Custom Screenshots From The FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark

Once you’ve run the FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark and shared your results, head back in and press Alt+F2 to activate NVIDIA Ansel. You’ll be given control of the camera to frame and set up your own screenshots, and by using the Ansel control panel on the left of the screen you can add picture-adjusting filters and make other tweaks.

All of Ansel’s features will be available, enabling you to capture Super Resolution and 360° screenshots, but to get the absolute-best shots from the FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark, and other supported Ansel games, you should opt-in to GeForce Experience’s latest beta.
