When we announced the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070, the world’s fastest and most advanced graphics cards, we unveiled several new technologies designed to improve and enhance your games and experiences. Of those, NVIDIA Photo Mode drew the most attention, offering gamers a powerful, easy-to-use camera that could capture unique, professional-grade 2D, 360° and Virtual Reality 360° screenshots on GeForce GTX graphics cards.

Today, we’re releasing NVIDIA Photo Mode for CDP Projekt RED's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Capture personally-framed freecam screenshots, adjust the field of view and rotation of the screen, add optional Instagram-style filters, and save to shareable filetypes with a single click. At any point during gameplay hit the Photo Mode hotkey and you’ll be able to capture stunning screenshots that were previously impossible to frame and snap.

To capture your own unique The Witcher 3 screenshots using NVIDIA Photo Mode:

  1. Download and install our latest Game Ready driver from GeForce Experience or GeForce.com
  2. Open GOG or Steam and download the new Witcher 3 1.24 game update
  3. Play The Witcher 3 and press Alt+F2 during gameplay to open the NVIDIA Photo Mode interface
  4. Reposition the camera using WASD, Z, X, and left mouse (hold shift to accelerate movement), or use a controller (D-Pad navigates the Photo Mode UI, ‘A’ on Xbox controllers takes screenshots), change Photo Mode options as desired, click “Snap”, and open your “Videos” folder in Windows to view the results

Using the many options enabled by Photo Mode you’ll be able to adjust framing for the perfect view, apply filters or define your own custom filter, and capture 2D, Stereo, 360° Virtual Reality, 360° Stereo, and super resolution screenshots. Take a look below for further info.

Free Camera

Freeze time, and roll, zoom and reposition the camera. Go wherever you want during any quest or moment to create the perfect shot, or fly as far as the troposphere to create something truly unique.

Super Resolution (Beta)

Using the power of your GeForce GTX GPU we can capture Photo Mode screenshots at “super resolutions”, such as 63,360 x 35,640. Up to 33 times higher than 1920 x 1080, the most commonly used gaming resolution, screenshots captured at this resolution are incredibly detailed, with even the smallest objects retaining definition when you zoom in. In addition, turning on Photo Mode in The Witcher 3 increases the level of detail to create the highest quality images possible.

Check out some other examples of Super Resolution in our nifty Photo Mode Super Resolution Gallery

Use Super Resolution to capture incredible screenshots. Downscale to create amazing desktop wallpapers, make screenshots large enough for physical printing, or crop the image without loss of image quality - super Resolution is a brand new innovation with possibilities that have yet to be explored. Check out some examples of Super Resolution in the Photo Mode Super Resolution Gallery.

To use Super Resolution in The Witcher 3, select “Super Resolution” under “Capture Type”, pick a resolution to capture at (the filesize indicates the amount of temporary space required to capture and assemble the screenshot), and click “Snap” (to view multi-GB images on your PC, you’ll need to use Irfanview or another 64-bit image application).

Super Resolution forges new ground, creating entirely new functionality that has never before been possible. And over time it will evolve and integrated even more cutting-edge technology that further improves its functionality and feature set. For status updates and a FAQ please follow this forum thread.
