Research: Benedikt is interested in principled forms of sample reuse that unlock more efficient ray-tracing techniques for offline and real-time rendering. Real-time raytracing requires clever use of the small budget of rays available per pixel, and reusing information learned from neighboring pixels or past frames provides an efficient way of informing better future samples. His research is focused on unbiased and low-noise methods of reuse that can improve samples without introducing artifacts. Bio: Benedikt is a 4th year PhD student in the Visual Computing Lab at Dartmouth College, advised by Wojciech Jarosz. Before coming to Dartmouth, he worked with Wojciech Jarosz, Jan Novak, Ralf Habel and Wenzel Jakob during his Bachelor's and Master's at ETH Zurich and Disney Research Zurich. He has interned at Disney Research, NVIDIA Research and Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he worked on Big Hero 6.
