FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SANTA CLARA, CA—MAY 5, 2004—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced NVIDIA Firewall, the Company’s new hardware-optimized personal firewall solution integrated into new NVIDIA nForce™ media and communication processors (MCPs), including the NVIDIA nForce3 250Gb MCP, has now been tested and certified by ICSA Labs®, the industry’s leading independent security testing firm, and a division of TruSecure Corporation®.
To earn ICSA Labs’ coveted certification, NVIDIA submitted nForce-based motherboards incorporating NVIDIA Personal Firewall to ICSA Labs who tested the operability, functionality, and vulnerability of the NVIDIA personal firewall solution. The extensive testing program, entirety created and controlled by the Lab Services Program within ICSA Labs, was designed to evaluate security and administrative functionality, and rate the overall effectiveness of NVIDIA Firewall in a litany of different scenarios, including Denial of Service (DoS), Trojan attacks, and application hijacking. The criteria established are based on specific requirements generated through market segment research, security product classification and available features of the security device to be evaluated. A full copy of the report, detailing the testing methodology, can be found at: http://www.icsalabs.com.
“Given the proliferation of hackers, viruses, and worms populating the World Wide Web, security should be a concern for every PC user. Our Lab Services testing process was designed to test the functional and platform security of NVIDIA Firewall in a realistic deployment scenario,” said George Japak, Vice President of ICSA Labs. “We congratulate NVIDIA on developing a solution that offers consumers a solution for enhancing personal security and reducing overall vulnerability levels.”
ICSA Labs tested NVIDIA Firewall in a number of key areas, including:
Optimized for the advanced AMD Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, AMD Opteron™ 64-bit Processor families, NVIDIA nForce3 250Gb MCPs integrate hardware and software technologies that expand PC desktop, gaming, and digital media functionality. By providing the industry’s only high-speed, native Gigabit Ethernet solution, fault tolerant and high performance RAID storage functionality, and integrated security features, including NVIDIA Firewall, the NVIDIA nForce3 250Gb MCP delivers accelerated performance, advanced scalability, and unmatched system stability for multiple computing environments, including professional, consumer, and mobile PC platforms.
