Taiwan, Taipei - June 04, 2001 - NVIDIA® Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) and AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that NVIDIA will be among the first adopters of AMD’s new HyperTransport™ technology. This technology will increase the performance of NVIDIA's new nForce™ Platform Processing Architecture, a revolutionary new system architecture integrating the nForce Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP) and the nForce Media and Communications Processor (MCP) for the fastest, most robust, and feature-rich PC platform available.
NVIDIA’s nForce architecture utilizes AMD’s HyperTransport I/O bus interface, to deliver the highest continuous throughput ― up to 800 MB/sec. ― between NVIDIA’s platform processors. Using this state-of-the-art I/O bus as the main conduit between the IGP and MCP ensures data and information is relayed through the system as quickly as possible.

HyperTransport technology, formerly code-named Lightning Data Transport (LDT), is an innovative new technology that moves information faster. With a peak data transfer rate of up to 12.8GB per second possible, HyperTransport technology is designed to enable the chips inside of PCs, networking and communications devices to communicate with each other up to 48 times faster than with existing bus technologies.
