Austin - Austin employees participate in several volunteer events during the year, and one of the most popular takes place through an initiative called Give to Austin. A project at Winn Elementary in Austin, Texas, offered 12 employee volunteers an opportunity to paint murals and install tile mosaics, creating a more inviting campus for the students and neighboring community.

Bangalore - On March 12, 30 Bangalore employees held their first Project Inspire event, helping to build affordable housing for widows and single mothers who were living in slums in Bangalore. The employees had a great time helping build homes from the ground up, digging the foundation, mixing concrete, plastering and demolishing older structures to make way for the new homes. The employees put together a wonderful overview of the events and the personal stories of the women we helped, which you can read about here.

Courbevoie, France – Our Courbevoie employees took a great approach to charity in 2010. How, they wondered, could they combine one of our company’s passions (gaming) with a group of people that are often overlooked (disabled youth) and create a year-long program that gives kids an opportunity to find undiscovered talents while doing something fun that also tests their skills? Behold the Handicup, a gaming tournament that employees held in partnership with NVIDIA customer Acer. The office ran a series of four tournaments from June through December, and on December 15 a final winner was crowned. The program was so popular they decided to hold it again this year and just completed their first tournament of 2011.

Huntsville - Over two days in April, 21 Huntsville employees (more than 60 percent of the office) participated in a Habitat for Humanity project to fix up several nearby homes. Employees hauled sheet rock, hung siding, installed attic stairs, completed carpentry projects and even helped wire two of the homes. Employees are looking forward to their next opportunity to team up to help less fortunate Alabama families. Dale Kirkland, Huntsville site leader remarked to employees, “All-in-all, a great start to something I hope we can do every year.”

NVIDIA India employees donated over 290 units of blood across all the 3 India sites and the agencies that coordinated the event were very happy with the response. |
