About NVIDIA

NVIDIA® Maximus™ technology combines the visualization and interactive design capability of NVIDIA Quadro® GPUs and the high-performance computing power of NVIDIA Tesla® GPUs in a single workstation. On an NVIDIA Maximus system the Tesla GPU companion processor performs the heavy lifting of photorealistic rendering or engineering simulation computation. This frees up CPU resources for the work they are best suited for while freeing the Quadro GPU to power rich, full-performance, interactive design.
Designers and engineers can now perform simultaneous CAE, rendering, or structural/fluid analysis on the same system being used for design work. Plus, content-creation professionals can perform faster video editing, effects, and animation.

When configuring your Maximus workstation, the Quadro GPU and Tesla GPU must be based on the same NVIDIA architecture. The latest Maximus configuration is made up of a Kepler based Quadro (K600, K2000, K4000, or K5000) paired with one or more Tesla K20s. First generation Maximus configurations are made up of one or more Tesla C2075s combined with a choice of a Quadro 600, Quadro 2000, Quadro 4000, Quadro 5000, or Quadro 6000.
