Community engagement is one of NVIDIA’s core values. We seek to expand our role in the communities in which we work and do business by cultivating four areas — volunteerism, corporate giving, educational programs and social innovation, where we apply our technology to make a positive impact on the world.
Project Inspire, now in its fifth year, involves employees foregoing an annual holiday party and instead participating in a day of service focused on a single major project to benefit their local community. In 2010, our flagship initiative in Santa Clara, Calif., drew more than 1,000 employees, family members and local volunteers. Project Inspire has brought transformational change to neighborhoods throughout Silicon Valley. And as increasingly more NVIDIA sites organize similar efforts, its reach is expanding around the world.
NVIDIA established the NVIDIA Foundation four years ago to direct the company’s corporate philanthropy efforts. The Foundation’s structure is unique in that it is completely employee-led. We have found that ownership of the company’s philanthropic activities inspires our people to support causes that matter most to them with passion and creativity.
Our efforts don’t just have impact on communities today, they also have longer term objectives. We’re introducing children to high-tech careers and environments, strengthening our ecosystem by involving our partners and suppliers; enhancing our standing in the communities where we operate; and increasing employee enthusiasm and morale.
