Safety and Health
We are dedicated to providing safe and healthy workplaces for our employees. From ongoing monitoring of environmental, health and safety practices to emergency response planning, our programs demonstrate our commitment and care.
Our leave-of-absence and worker’s compensation claims reflect our emphasis on employee safety and health. Less than 1 percent of our leave of absence requests are related to work injuries. While we have few workers compensation claims, the majority are for repetitive motion injuries, which we are addressing with an ergonomics program.
This favorable record relates, in part, to our being a “fabless” company which relies on manufacturing partners to produce our products. However, we have a vested interest in promoting the safety and health of all workers connected to our business, and we work closely with suppliers and partners on these issues. As a member of the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), we require our suppliers to adhere to the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct, which has established standards for the health and safety of workers.

Emergency Response Team
More than 250 global employees volunteer for NVIDIA's Emergency Response Team.
Planning for emergencies is an essential part of keeping our employees safe. Our volunteer Emergency Response Team is made up of employees who have been trained to respond and provide first aid in the event of an emergency. These volunteers have received training in basic first aid, as well as emergency preparedness for rapid response in the case of a medical emergency, hazardous chemical spill, major incident or large scale disaster. We have active teams in offices around the globe, including Santa Clara, Calif.; Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune, India; Taipei; Shanghai and Shenzhen, China; and Austin, Texas. We continue to add teams to new locations.
Because we do not manufacture the products we sell, our suppliers are a key component of our success as a company. We meet with our suppliers regularly and conduct quarterly business reviews. These reviews give us an opportunity to measure their adherence to our social responsibility policy
as well as the guidelines in the EICC Code of Conduct
. We require our suppliers to meet international standards on the environment and human rights and workplace safety, and we work with them on issues that may arise in these areas. For more information, please see the Silicon Chip Operations section in environment
